Short BioI am at Adobe Systems now for 12 years, in California for 19+ years since leaving Wang Labs in June 1983. At the time I left, I was heading the group that was working on the workstation-based successor to both the VS and OIS systems. |

Stories and AnecdotesMy role in the 928 project and the follow-on stuff was that of one of the only people at Wang other than Dr. Wang himself who was able to work both with Harold Koplow and Bob Siegel.I joined Wang Labs to work on the VS operating system, but ended up running the VS/IIS project that put Wang Word Processing and ultimately pretty much all OIS on the VS. The VS has an OS-6 emulator that I wrote with a colleague such that the VS looked like an OIS file server to the workstation software. We also provided a the software to go back and forth between VS "native" use of the workstations and printers and the actual OIS slave code at those devices as well as the document-handling utility programs and document access subroutines for the VS's data processing personality. |
