Last Minute Vacation Tips: The Best Way to Pack Your Backpack?
For those who have seen George Clooney’s 2009 Oscar-nominated movie “Up in the Air,” then you might have welcome the lesson on vacationing light. I mainly prefer that airport terminal scene where he was teaching the adolescent and excited Natalie Keener, about how packing light with just the necessities, can save you so much effort and time.
This is exactly what many people, especially those who are not really the avid traveler, lose out when taking last minute vacation or even planned holidays. They bring in with them plenty of things, with the concern in mind that they could need it during the trip. This is the typical scenario of too much worrying, which permits less time for reasonable preparation. Is a free standing heavy boxing bag worth buying?
Compared to the original boxing bag that is hung instead of standing I think the free standing one isn't as good. I just don't know if it's like the original boxing bags. Does it have that same feel or effect when you punch it? Can the free standing boxing bag take as much damage as the original boxing bags?
Answer:
Hanging bags do move, but it does not simulate the movement of an opponent at all.
I don't understand all this "hanging bags are better because they move" nonsense. No one moves that slow.
In fact, most newer hanging bags have a hook on the bottom to anchor them to the floor to prevent excessive movement.
That being said, I generally prefer the hanging bags because you can strike with full power, and they don't fall over. I have 3 hanging bags (different weights) and the heaviest, longest bag is anchored to the floor.
The best freestanding bag, which I have at our dojo, is the wavemaster XXL by Century with targets. This one is heavy (if you fill it right) and is long enough and thick enough for all types of kicks. The regular freestanding bags are not low enough to effectively practice low kicks.
If I had a freestanding bag, it would have to be the XXL.
But both styles of bags can be effective in your training. I don't think one has a significant advantage over the other with the exception of knocking the freestanding ones over.
