can you buy a sim car for an existing number?
i brought my phone out to a floating dock on a lake in a ziplock baggie the bag held then some how the phone got wet i took it apart on the dock to let it dry out and the sim card fell through a crack in the dock and its gone my phone works now and i want to keep my number so i wanted to know if i could just go to a cingular store and get a new sim card for my number

Absolutely! Visit your local store about getting a replacement SIM Card. There may be a small fee, but they can help you activate the new SIM with your current number and plan.
The bad news is that any contact information that was saved to your SIM Card is gone. AT&T has a program now to help you prevent it in the future. With a compatible phone, you can have their new Mobile Backup program so that your contact information is automatically saved and easily retrieved when you get a new phone or change SIM cards.
